Feng Zhengjie (b. 1968) is one of the greatest representatives of the “School of Kitsch” and focuses his original style on the way the current generation deals with his country’s habits and customs. His work is often discussed as capitalist critique, his empty eyed models posing as frivolous and vacant signifiers. Neither western nor Chinese in appearance, Feng’s femmes fatales are a super-hybrid of commercial beauty, a science fiction product of globalization.
