Stephen Brandes (b. 1966) is a British artist who lives and works in Cork County, Ireland. His practice explores the interplay of word and visual language. This work stems from a visual diary of his Romanian grandmother's escape from the pogroms in Europe. Brands interweaves this history on a tree of life with fairytale places and dysfunctional landscapes.
